The Barugzai Hiace is a fully modified Toyota Hiace with a private washroom, a sofa that turns into a bed, and massage captain seats. It costs AED 495,000 and seats 6. Watch our full video review below.
The exterior
The front bonnet, bumper, rims and side skirts are all modified, with chrome added along the sides. At the back, the bumper is modified, a spoiler is added and more chrome is fitted. From most angles it no longer looks like a standard Hiace.
The roof stays factory height. We do not cut or extend it. Clients who want more can ask for carbon fibre parts.
The driver's area
The dashboard is covered in beige and black leather, with wood finishing on the side walls, the centre console and the steering wheel. The front seats match the design of the rear seats.
Between the front seats there is a fridge and two cup holders. A main power switch turns on everything in the rear cabin. When passengers call from the back, the driver hears a ring, presses accept and can talk to them.
The VIP cabin
Everything in the rear is controlled from an iPad: the TV, the coffee machine, the air conditioning and the lights.
- The TV lowers, so passengers can see the road ahead
- The coffee machine slides out at the press of a button and goes back in when you are done
- A phone in the cabin calls the driver directly
The two VIP seats have massage, ventilation and heating. They were designed specially for the Barugzai Hiace, and they turn around so passengers can face the rear sofa. Next to each seat you get:
- A wireless charger and a 220V socket for laptops and phones
- Cup holders and a tissue holder
- A footrest that doubles as a hidden storage box
This van has manual curtains. Automatic curtains are available on other builds.
The roof lights
The ceiling has four lighting layers:
- Side lights
- A fibre optic starlight roof that runs around the whole cabin
- Ambient lighting on the side walls and partition, in blue, green, red, yellow and more
- A main roof light in white, yellow or blue
The sofa bed
The rear sofa seats 2 and turns into a full bed at the press of a button, with the footrest rising to complete it. For the bed setup, the two VIP seats face forward. One person can sleep in the back while the others watch TV or play PlayStation up front.
The washroom
The Barugzai Hiace has a private washroom with a toilet, a sink with running water, its own lights and air conditioning, a phone holder and storage space.
The water tank sits behind the rear seat and is refilled from the boot, where a gauge shows the water level. Check it before every trip.
The boot
The boot has the water filler, a 220V socket and storage for suitcases. Storage is available when the sofa is in seat mode, not bed mode.
