Everything you need to know — from paperwork to plates.
If you've recently purchased or built a custom vehicle — whether it’s a VIP van, modified 4x4, or performance SUV — you’ll need to go through Dubai’s official vehicle registration process. Here’s a step-by-step breakdown to make the process smooth and stress-free.
Before anything, make sure:
The vehicle complies with UAE road safety regulations
Modifications are professionally installed
No chassis or engine tampering violates RTA standards
If you are unsure:
You can book a RTA committee inspection which happens at Tasjeel Al Qusais.
Example: We send our Mercedes Sprinter to Al Tamam passing center then they inform us the vehicle needs to go for a RTA committee inspection. They book it for us and it happens on Tuesday morning betweem 8am-10am.
Vehicle Ownership Document
Vehicle modification certificate (if applicable)
Purchase invoice (preferably from the agency, example if it's a GMC Seirra then from Al Ghandi which is the offical distributor of GMC in Dubai)
Vehicle Inspection Report
Insurance (After the vehicle inspection is done)
| Service | Fee (AED) |
|---|---|
| Vehicle testing | 170 AED |
| Insurance | Depends on the vehicle |
| Registration | 500-700 AED (Depending on the Plate Sizes) |
Once approved, you’ll get:
Registration card (Mulkiya)
